Watchers

well, technically not there yet but would be nice!  I am currently an extra in Disney's Secretariat which is filming part of their movie down here in Southern Louisiana.  Been doing various roles but having fun.  Been in a few main scenes and hopefully the scenes are good enough and I appear in them.

YES! I made it in the movie!!!

I don't show up for about half the movie. First half deals with Penny and her family situation before taking over the horse ranch. After Secretariat gets groomed and ready to race will be when you need to pay attention

I made it into 4 scenes but one ended up in the deleted scene section of the DVD

First scene: July 4th Race. (The one where Secretariat loses) It's about halfway through the movie and it is before the race starts. They have right in the middle of the screen. I'm out of focus but I am... wearing the goofy red, white, and blue outfit. Wearing a Royal Blue tight shirt that says "Bombers" and red, and white stripes on the sleeves. White shorts with red and blue pinstripes.

2nd scene: I'm a Derby Official (Fire Engine Red Pants/ Navy Blazer/ Red Tie, and white shirt) and it is the scene where Sham and Secretariat are getting out of their trailers. Reporters greeting them at the exit of the ramp. A few seconds later I'm on the left side of the screen behind a horse.

3rd Scene: Derby Official again. (Same clothes) I'm in the first winner's circle scene. Near the end of the scene I am on the far left side of the screen

There is one scene for sure that was cut out of the theatrical release so I will have to check out the DVD when it is released. It is a scene where me and this other guy, dressed as derby officials, walk between the camera and the actors as they are conversing. (Diane Lane and Dylan Walsh.)

**********INTERESTING STORIES ON SET*********
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a lot of fun there but here are two of my favorite stories from there.

First Story: (the scene where Secretariat and Sham come off their trailers)

I just finished my part in it and was told where to go. I went in to the stables behind... me and sat on bales of hay next to a stall. I was next to another extra who was one of the police trooper types. He was sitting closer to the open stable window and just above him was a roped bag of hay hanging for the horse within to munch on. Well, while we were talking, the horse decided he didn't want the cop there and started bashing his head against the hay knocking hay all over the poor guy. Funny as hell.
----------------------------------
Second Story: (I am a racing fan in the center ring of the field among others and we are told to "pantomime" which means to perform actions as directed SILENTLY) The racing scenes were pretty aggravating because they take so LOOOOONG to reset each scene for retakes. They race the horses for a quarter of the track and then trot the rest out. Then they rest the horses while tractors come out with racks to remove the horse tracks so that we can start the race again on untouched soil.

Well, some of the fans held posters with different horse names on them for that race. We were told to pantomime, which was to pretend to scream/yell, and clap. They said "ACTION" and began the scene. The people holding the posters didn't quite understand the concept and while they were jumping up and down also started "warping" the posters which is very similar to the sound effects created for thunder storms in old Looney Tunes type cartoons. As the horses passed in front of us EVERY SINGLE ONE of them were staring at US/giving us the evil eye as they rounded the curve. All I could think was "Holy Hell, we have to redo this whole scene again" as I laughed silently to myself.
--------------------------

The outfit I wore on the 4th of July race was interesting. I think when we were doing fitting before filming that wardrobe was trying to find some poor sap to put it on, lol. Apparently, I was it. I think they were happy when I agreed to it. Well the shorts are white with red and blue pinstripes and the shirt was a really tight stretchy jersey type of shirt. It was blue with red and white stripes on the neckline and sleeves with Bombers printed on the front. A few of the people I became friends with on set were telling me later that when I walked out people were whispering "They are sending that boy out in his boxers!" lol

No prob. It's really good. Sorry I haven't commented yet. Found it before I went to work. Will get around to asking you about your process later. I really want to get into some dioramas myself. Already have a few videogame sculpture stuff done but would love to get into the sculpy stuff!
